Inspiring Stories of Women at Studio G

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. At Studio G, we are committed to empowering women and creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. In this blog post, we will share the inspiring stories of Emma and Yasmin who are making a difference at Studio G and in the architectural industry.

Meet Emma, Project Team Leader

Emma has over 20 years of experience in the architectural industry. Day to day, you can find her translating client briefs into functional designs and co-ordinating projects all the way from concept to completion.

From the age of 9, Emma wanted to be an interior designer. During her GCSE’s, she developed a love for buildings which sparked her aspirations to work in architecture.

Emma began her career working as a Trainee in an Architectural Practice after her A-Levels and she’s never looked back! 22 years later and Emma’s skills, knowledge and experience have grown beyond her expectations. All Emma’s training and experience has enabled her to grow from a Trainee Technician to Studio G’s Project Team Leader. She is also currently in the process of completing her chartership to become an Associate.

Emma’s advice for young women:

My advice for any young women considering a similar career path to me is simple. Go for it, don’t live life with any regrets! It was hard for me in the early years working in such a male dominated industry, but that’s all changed now. Women are making their mark and showing the world what a huge value we can bring!”

What International Women’s Day means to Emma:

To me, it’s about celebrating the success and achievements of women all over the world. It’s an opportunity to highlight and promote the achievements of females in various fields and to encourage the development of future talent providing role models for the next generation.”

Meet Yasmin, Project Architect

Yasmin joined Studio G as a Project Architect last month. She brings experience across education, community, residential, and heritage/conservation projects. Since qualifying as an Architect in 2020, she has developed a strong passion for designing spaces that positively impact both people and the environment.

Yasmin particularly enjoys working on residential and public sector projects that create meaningful change. With a love for the outdoors, she believes in architecture that not only serves communities but also supports nature and sustainability.

Yasmin's advice for young women:

“My advice is to be confident and don’t hold back. Do not listen to anyone else and follow your heart.”

What International Women’s Day means to Yasmin:

“I believe that International Women’s Day is a great opportunity for us to showcase our roles and encourage more women to join the industry!”

Happy International Women's Day!
