Studio G were selected at competition as Architect’s Engineer’s and Lead Consultant, for the remodelling of the existing Preparatory School, which is part of Loughborough Endowed Schools. The project involved replacing the old buildings they were occupying, and the remodelling of other buildings, to provide a new school, appropriate to their current and future needs.

This recently completed school provides high quality teaching accommodation for over 400 infant and primary pupils and despite it being over two floors, every classroom provides sheltered external teaching spaces connecting directly onto the classrooms via opening glass walls. A close working relationship between architect and end client and an innovative approach has resulted in efficient and inspiring teaching spaces.

Close attention was taken to ensure the building was as sustainable as possible, without compromising the school’s teaching practices and standards, and this was achieved using natural ventilation, PV panels, rainwater harvesting technology.

The project was shortlisted for Large Non-Residential Scheme of the Year Award at the ProCon Awards.
