A sustainable, low energy residential development, on the outskirts of Lincoln, built over 2 phases.
This groundbreaking project includes 3, 4, and 5 bed houses and 2 bed bungalows, built on a community basis with a private woodland, tennis court, community room, orchard and allotments.
The development was built on a spectacular 10-arce site adjacent to Lincolnshire Showground, and the first terraced provided 18 three and four bed houses with uninterrupted views across a lake, and landscaped parkland bounded by hedgerows.
Exceptional environmental performance was achieved using a high thermal mass, super insulated structure, with triple-glazing, and extremely low air leakage. Energy demand was further reduced by a heat-recovery ventilation system, and the use of low energy appliances and lighting. The solar PV roof generated the system, and further reduced power demand by diverting excess power into the hot water cylinder. The use of harvested rainwater to flush toilets reduced mains water by around 40%.
Following the success of the original development, a second phase of 6 five bed houses and 5 two bed bungalows was completed two years later.
